Hello and welcome to Ahadu Ethiopian Cuisine. An authentic Ethiopian restaurant located in Burtonsville Maryland, midway beween Washington DC and Balitmore. We are proud to present to you an exquisite and authentic cuisine from one of the oldest countries in the world, Ethiopia, a country of three thousand years of history, thirteen months of sunshine and home of the earliest known humankind, Lucy, our ancestor.

Berbere (Amharic: በርበሬ bärbäre, is a spice mixture whose constituent elements usually include chili peppers, coriander, garlic, ginger and basil

እንጀራ

Injera, ənǧära እንጀራ [ɨndʒəra], is a sour fermented flatbread with a slightly spongy texture, traditionally made out of teff flour.

Kibbeh

ንጥር ቅቤ

Niter Kibbeh is an ingredient integral to Ethiopian cuisine and is made by clarifying butter that has been infused with herbs and spices.

Vegetarian + Chicken + Beef+ Lamb

Our menu characteristically consists of vegetable and often very spicy meat (Beef, Chicken and Lamb)dishes. This is usually in the form of wat, a thick stew, served atop injera, a large sourdough flatbread, which is about 50 centimeters (20 inches) in diameter and made out of fermented teff flour.

Vegetarian combo

Spicy split lentil (misir wot), split lentils (alecha misir), yellow peas (kik wot), collard greens (gomen), cabbage (tikil gomen), potato stew.

Yebeg Tibs / Lamb

Diced lamb, onions, garlic, turmeric (erd), Ethiopian herbal butter (kibe), ginger, and jalapeño. Served with Injera.

Doro Wot / Chicken

Chicken drumsticks sautéed with onions, garlic, ginger, cardamom (korerima), chili powder (berbere), and herbal butter (kibe) stew.
